Xifion Okruri

Xifion Okruri (10080-) is a white dracon draconic martial artist who had his professional debut in 10102 DC and made waves during his first televised appearance in a tournament due to his striking appearance from his gold dragon blood and practice of the rare 'gold style' of DMA that was not practiced openly by any other current professional draconic martial artist at the time. He is currently signed to the professional sports club Team Radiant. In 10110, he won his first world championship title, and is the first openly transgender competitor to win the title in any sport in Zairis.

Background

Early life

Xifion was born on 29 Thunder, 10080 DC, in the city of Medellus, but moved to Masea with his family in 10086 at 6 years old. He has been privately trained in DMA from a young age and claims to have learned the gold style from an undisclosed family member with no documented record in official amateur or professional avenues. He did not compete in any recorded tournaments until in 10096, when he participated in the 3rd Division Maston County Championship and placed in the top 16 using the copper style.

Amateur career

Xifion has no record of a public club membership or amateur tournament appearances prior to his transition sometime before 10096, but he participated in numerous amateur tournaments in quick succession all over East Mithros between the ages of 16 and 22, placing in the top 16 or 8 in most of his early appearances, securing his first tournament medal in 10098, a silver at that year's 3rd Division Inter-Mithrosi Championship held in Cania. Following that, he was promoted to the 2nd division and started putting up similar performances in that tier of tournaments, placing 3rd at DracoSmashFest Hardcore 10099, after which he was signed to the semi-pro sports club Korado Skydancers, which he remained with for the remainder of his amateur career.

Professional career

Following a two year tenure as the 2nd Division Mithros Champion from 10100 to 10101, Xifion accepted an offer to join professional sports club Castor-Magnus Combustion's DMA squad of newly promoted fighters, and thus joined the professional DMA circuit. Xifion frequently clashed with both management and his teammates at Castor-Magnus but stayed with the team through several roster rotations until leaving in 10105, opting to join the then-newly formed Team Radiant, where he has remained since.

Joining the Tephuil Games and disclosure of transgender status

Xifion's performance in the professional DMA circuit up to 10108 landed him a qualification to join the Tephuil Games that year. He announced this by modeling for a series of nude photographs accompanied by an interview in culture and lifestyle magazine Cania Culture Monthly, where he discussed the invitation, his life story, and disclosed his being transgender, with the reasoning that the Tephuil Games administration would mandate him having to disclose it anyway, due to its DMA tournament using a version of traditional hardcore rules (fighting without armguards and in the nude) but banning modesty tape. This was met with considerable criticism and discourse in the DMA community, with some arguing that he should be suspended by the WDMAA for the stunt, with one group submitting a formal complaint. Ultimately, the WDMAA dismissed the complaint and Xifion competed in the Games' DMA tournament, placing 3rd.
