Modesty tape

Modesty tape is worn by dracons and humans for the purpose of maintaining their decency even when nude. It is typically used to cover the genitalia, or sometimes the nipples of the female breast.

Varieties

The most rudimentary form of the modesty tape is a simple piece of multipurpose tape with a mild adhesive that will not irritate the affected areas. This is usually only used by the less affluent or as as quick measure when other forms are not available.

Purpose-made modesty tape is sold in a variety of colors meant to match the user's scales or skin tone. This can vary in level from rough approximation appropriate to the user's species, to appearing seamless and even replicating the texture of the user's scales or skin, which is made possible by enchanting it with Illusion magic.

Modesty tape for males can also incorporate Shape magic to manage the area covered by it. Standard unenchanted tape leaves a bulge, which is sometimes seen as desireable, but for other situations, there are varieties available that flatten the crotch area to make it seem featureless.

Another variable to be considered is the modesty tape's liquid penetrability. More rudimentary tapes have no penetrability and must thus be removed to allow the user to relieve themselves, but higher grade brands allow for that without the need for removal. Similarly, this is also an option for modesty tape designed to cover the female nipple, which allows for more modest breastfeeding.

Uses

Aquantis Dominion

While clothing is not widely employed in the Dominion due to the aquatic environment, the Dominion mandates the use of modesty tape in the Waveport and Photicia levels of Aquantis City. Bathyal and Benthos do not have this restriction, although members of the Blue Council are required to use it while in session. As other settlements of the Dominion are rarely visited by outsiders, none of them are subject to this mandate, either.

Mithros

Decency laws in Mithros forbid nudity in public but make an exception for those sufficiently covered in fur or those who make use of modesty tape to remain decent. There are other exemptions for cultural occasions, but those are enforced strictly, so modesty tape is commonly paired with cultural dress codes that would leave the wearer exposed.

In media

There are similar restrictions on nudity in media - for instance, on broadcast television, nudity without modesty tape can only be broadcast between the hours of 10PM and 4AM. There is no such restriction on on-demand television or film, but many producers use it anyway in order to lower the age rating of their media.

In advertising, modesty tape is strictly required for all occasions with no exceptions, though this may have resulted in a large proportion of Mithrosi advertising making use of nude models wearing modesty tapes in increasingly ridiculous situations.

Sporting

As many sports are traditionally practiced in the nude, sporting broadcasts are one of few exemptions to the daytime broadcasting rules of nudity - however, use of modesty tape by athletes is optional in most events, and many opt for wearing tape branded by their sponsors. The Tephuil Games, however, have taken an different stance and expressly forbid all use of modesty tape by athletes, maintaining that the purity of an athlete's form in the Games is sacrosanct, and that the use of modesty tape violates that ethos.
