Whitehaven

Whitehaven is the third most populous city in Mithros, after Cania and Drakeport, with a population of 6.8 million. It is situated in the west of the Northranges region under the slopes of Heavensreach, and is the capital of the Singular Order's territory.

Demographics

The population of Whitehaven consists of roughly 40% humans, 40% dracons (thereof 70% white), 15% vulpine (mostly woodland), and 5% other races. On paper, 100% worship the Singular Deity, though this is because both worship of other deities and apostasy are banned, carrying harsh penalties.

Government

Whitehaven is governed by the Office of Worldly Affairs under the Whitehaven Clergiate Assembly and the Archcleric of the Singular Order.

History

Whitehaven was established in 4544 DC as the capital of the Brightrealm Dominion, a fledgling petty kingdom independent of the Free Dracon States.

In 7112, it was conquered by the Kingdom of Mithros and repurposed as a port city to be used as a launching point for expeditions to the west, which eventually yielded a trade route to the Thousand Eyries.

It was taken over by the Singular Order in the aftermath of the Coalition coup of Cania, due to insufficient Royalist presence, as most of the forces meant to be stationed in Whitehaven had been diverted to Cania and Drakeport in direct response to the coup. In the decade since, it was subjected to an extensive propaganda campaign supplanting local folklore b banning it from circulation and replacing it with religious literature of the Order.

Architecture

Whitehaven is named for the iconic white brick aesthetic that dominates its architecture. Other popular features in the city are high spires and towers, and in the decade immediately after the Singular Order's takeover of the city, the dedication of the largest window of a given building to a saint of the Order, depicted in stained glass, was in vogue.
