Jangara

Jangara is a province of the Nikosian Empire characterized by the tropical rainforest that covers most of its territory. It is the ancestral homeland of the striped felines. It is situated to the east of Darkfallow and Zauana and to the south of Chiwu-zhi and Leograu. Its provincial capital is Anat-en-zhi.

History

Settlement

The first settlement on record by the Followers of Fel in Jangara was on the banks of Lake Anat, and was named Anat-en-zhi.

Garabakhan Empire

The city-state of Garabakhan emerged as the first major power in the region that rose to dominate its neighbors for millennia, starting in the Pre-Draconic Era until collapsing around 1100 DC.

United Principalities of Jangara

While the region was separated into various petty kingdoms for over 2,000 years, the neighboring Leograu Empire to the west, having previously conquered Zauana, was now looking to expand to the east. Anticipating this, principalities banded together to form a federal state in order to present an unified front to a would-be invading foreign power, and Anat-en-zhi was chosen to be the federal capital. This worked to delay the eventual conquest of Jangara, but only until 4576, when the federal forces were overrun after a lengthy series of campaigns waged by Leograu over several centuries.
