Chiwu-zhi
Chiwu-zhi is at once both the capital of the Nikosian Empire, but also its heartland province, consisting of the Chiwu-zhi city proper, which has a population of about 8.4 million, as well as the industrial and farm lands surrounding it, which is rather less densely populated. It has been the capital of the empire since its founding during the recovery period post-Nikosian Rebellion. Its name translates to Central City in the Fel-tongue.
Demographics
About 70% of the population is feline, (of which, just over half are urban felines), and the largest proportion of non-felines are sand vulpines from Ka'aras.
Architecture
Pan-Kami Grand Temple
One of the best known buildings associated with Chiwu-zhi is the Pan-Kami Grand Temple, which stands a short distance outside the city limits proper, and holds the record of the longest continuous construction time of any building in Zairis, having started construction in 8990 DC and having new wings constantly being added to it since. It is has been described by critics of the project as a 'labyrinthian monstrosity of a building'.
