Glasjer

Glasjer is the impassable megaglacier that covers the northern part of Frysgard. It is a place of such immense cold that not even the hardy Nanuk can tolerate it for very long. It is situated north of the Nordheim Mountains, although it also meets the coast of the Sydstrand Coast region, just north of Sea's End. It is massive and high enough to be seen from the south coast, looming ominously beyond treelines and mountain ranges alike.

History

As far as written records and oral tradition (Nanuk and Fenran alike) indicate, Glasjer has existed longer than even the oldest civilizations of Frysgard, indicating that it might have been part of the Primordials' design for Zairis. Lesser deities claim to have no knowledge of its origins, and the Primordials themselves remain tight-lipped on the subject whenever it is brought up.

Population

There are no official population records for the Glasjer region, just as there is no record of any successful attempts to settle there or explore far beyond its border with the Nordheim Mountains. Survivors of expeditions have however reported large numbers of Ice elementals and undead roaming around, and some have claimed sightings of an enigmatic figure known only as 'The Cold King', but occasionally referred to in texts as 'Coldwarden' as well.

Cultural significance

Glasjer's looming presence has long inspired tales of horrors venturing from beyond it to terrorize the population of Frysgard. The Cold King is frequently cast as an antagonist in such tales, commanding a vast army of elementals and undead, facing off against famous Frysgardian champions such as Sven the Mountain-Tosser and even Fenrir himself, who, according to records, had little to say on such a battle.
