Spell-Eater

Spell-Eater is a longsword made of mithril created by the legendary artificer Katon Forgebreath around 2000 DC. It is one of the iconic early Mithril Era artifacts, second only to the original Mithril Crown and Tiara set in historical importance.

Specifications

Spell-Eater is a longsword made in a style typical of the Free Dracon States, is 122 cm long and weighs 1.2 kg, and was most likely made prior to Katon's tenure as a royal blacksmith in the Kingdom of Sylava. The enchantment on it allows the user to absorb any attack of auratic nature that it comes in contact with. The Aura is the nstored within the blade and can be released via the command word Shah (Old Draconic for 'spit').

History

It was created on commission for a witch-hunter client whose name is lost to history. It is theorized that this witch-hunter eventually fell to the infamous renegade wizard Raiten the Red, as it was found in his possession by a band of adventurers led by one Garrian Ressh, who would subsequently establish a reputation as a mage-slayer by virtue of wielding Spell-Eater.

After Garrian's death, the sword was passed down a middling branch of the noble House Ressh for several centuries before it was lost in the Battle of Mortshire in 2997.
