Mithril
Mithril (Old Draconic for swordsilver) is a metal valued for its strength, relative lightness compared to other metals of similar strength, and especially for its high capacity for the conduction of Aura, making it especially valuable to spellcasters of various stripes, who use it in their auratic foci. The demand for mithril has increased steadily since the rise of technology that uses Aura as a power source. It is a slightly shimmering in appearance, of a silvery color with a blue sheen, and has a melting point of around 1400°C.
History
Mithril has been worked by the civilized peoples of Zairisfor millenia. The earliest record of its use is from one of the Free Dracon States, the precursors to the Kingdom of Mithros, in ca. 2000 DC, for the making of Aura-charged jewelry and weapons, which kicked off the Mithril Era of Zairis. The best known early mithril artifacts are the original Mithril Crown and Tiara set, and the legendary longsword known as Spell-Eater.
