Royal Intelligence Office

The Royal Intelligence Office, or RIO, is the intelligence service of the Royalist Alliance of Mithros, reprising its role of information gathering and analysis (as well as other, more secretive tasks) that it served for under the .

It has four divisions, called sections. Section One is the branch of RIO concerned with gathering of intelligence via conventional espionage methods, e.g. comm interception and cryptanalysis. Section Two is the propaganda and psy-ops branch of RIO, concerned with tasks such as external communication and public morale within Royalist territory. Section Three is concerned with counterintelligence and the internal affairs of the whole Alliance - its day-to-day tasks involve, among other things, monitoring and rooting out of enemy agents. Lastly, there is Section Four, a secret branch of RIO answering only to the RAM High Command that was formed in the aftermath of the Coalition coup of Cania. Their primary directive is anti-Coalition black ops as well as more sensitive internal affairs matters beyond the scope of Section Three.
