Dryad

Dryad are a species of fringe entities created by Iris to act as the protectors of the trees and forests of Zairis, and as such, they can easily be found anywhere in the world where there is a significant number of trees. All dryads are aligned to the Grass element.

Appearance and anatomy

Dryads appear as bipedal humanoids, ranging in size from about 3 feet up to ten, depending on which species of tree they derive their traits from. Their anatomy appears to be mostly tree-derived as well, with barklike skin and inner anatomy of their limbs reflecting that of a tree, performing the same role as muscles and bones would in a more typical creature.

Society

The most common perception of dryads is that of a rural dryad, who, much like their rural dragon counterpart, prefers to live away from civilization. This is not entirely true as many dryads will also make their home in urban areas among trees, such as in city parks. The most glaring exception is within the Viridian Vale, where about 30% of the population is dryads. In the city of Dendropolis, where Iris' prime avatar resides, they are abundant and a large majority of them fulfill civil servant roles in its society.
